Hey Joey,

If you can snag one of those for me I would sure appreciate it. I can get bucks to you before Clear Lake if you need me to. Like at Whites on Sunday as long as I know how much...

Anyone know if the Shimano guys are going to be fixing reels 4 free (1/customer) at this one like they did last year?

Thanks for the info. Anybody have the model #? I'm way too far away to have anyone pick one up, but I'd like to look around online. I'm tired of waiting for the 'NEW' Okuma swimbait rods. Especially if this is a good stick and will do the trick. I like the fact it's longer then 7'6".

Do you mean the rod that was supposed to be out late last year, then early this year, then last month, then this month, blah, blah, blah. I too am tired of waiting for this mythical rod.

Hold on :o

Are you guys talking about the CE-7101? If so I asked someone on one of the Cal-Fishing boards and they said it was NOT heavy enough for the BIG baits. They told me to use GS-C-761XH for anything over 9". I'm confused. I told someone (I'll go back and lookup my post if this is it) a site where the CE-7101 is only about $40.

yes they are talking about the 7101's. I have 2 and they are great for throwing the big stuff. The new swimbait rod coming out will work for the big stuff and be perfect for Big Hammer type swimbaits. If you make it to the Open next month I will be glad to let you borrow one for the weekend to try out.

Woodsac,
IMHO it's fine for anything up to about 6oz. Somewhere in there it starts to feel under powered. It works great for my 4-Eyes, would work fine for Slammers, etc. For a while they were available at Reeds in San Jose for $40 with tax, but not anymore from what I've seen.
Tight lines,
Wade

It's supposed to be a sweet new swimbait rod in the $100 to $150 range.
