Hey, Dave - since I can't make it to Clear Lake this weekend, either, how would you like to join me at Calero (in my Four Winns) either Sat or Sun (or maybe both days!)??

Sounds good, although if you could send me a phone number to reach you on (send to me via e-mail? jsmith24@hotmail.com), that'd be great. I think I already have it, but an e-mail confirmation -- or a post here, if you're OK with that -- would give me an alternate way to contact you if anything changes.
Since I posted my message, my wife & I discussed some logistical stuff for the weekend (like dropping off cars for service, etc.). I'd like to have a means to get ahold of you if the plans get revised.
At this point, though, let's plan to meet at the Calero gate @ 7:45-8am. You could even bring one (or even two) of your kids along, if that sounds appealing to you. Between the two of us, I'm sure we could get 'em on some fish -- could be fun! Let me know what you think!

What are some good baits....and spots for Calero? My friend and I are going to go out in our boats Saturday morning until about noon. We are planning on hitting Almaden, but I ahve been reading good reports about Calero. ----------------------------------

Might be a little early for the big reaction bait bite but
I would try throwing some crankbaits just in case. Other
then that anything plastic works. Favotites include dead
ringers, brush hogs, jigs, aarons magic. Color anything
brown or green. Best spots. The best spots at Calero get
hammered several times a day thus they suck. Any bank
will do.

Right on! I'm glad your day produced some nice fish. I'd like to hit Calero, but it seems like it would be a PITA to try to fish in a kickboat out there with all the traffic and wakes. I have a trolling motor so that would probably make it easier. ----------------------------------

Yeah swampy it was sure was blowing. Me and Mr wong were able to tuck behind some levees and still do some fishing and did alright. Did ya go out sunday, it was pretty flat, I was able to fish my spots in frank's but it didnt produce for me just some small stripers. Here is a pic off Nick's camera phone, ended up going 7 on the berkeley digi and she ate a crankbait.

Nope no bug eyes, just a young healthy delta fish, it was dark with a little yellow belly but I do believe I was in the same general area as where that fish came from. All I'm saying is East, I have a couple good big fish spots in a slough over there and I'm not talking :7 Nick has been with me a couple times over there and seen the quality that come out of this spot, it is just money good depth, good weeds, and not very much bass boat traffic, the drive sucks though to get there. cz
