Yeah, I did exactly the same thing at Stevens Creek a number of years ago. Got caught up talking to the ranger, then just jumped in my car & took off -- dropping about $100 worth of jigs & spinnerbaits on the ground behind me (as I gleefully drove away, completely unaware)!

Sorry, I can't help you -- but I can sure RELATE!!! :-(

Me too. At Fountaingrove about a year ago. Maybe it was two years? Anyway, I lost some pet lures I'd had since I was 16 years old. :-( WHAAAA! sniff

I was about your age fishing a tournie in Arizona at Lake Pleasent and my boater and I flooded his 18' Skeeter and it sank into 25' of water.I lost everything except what I had in my pocket. It took years to rebuild my arsenol.

Dont let that keep you from fishing with us I am sure everyone would give you something. You will be supprised how much stuff you use to have that you never needed.

LAST EDITED ON Jun-20-01 AT 06:25 PM (PST)

Put me on the list of leaving gear behind. A few summers ago a friend and I set out to night fish Anderson. We got dropped off around midnight and were suppose to get picked up at 8 in the morning. By ten O'clock our ride had not shown up. Being tiered, Hot, and hungry. ~ Just was not thinking all so well. My friend and I dared each other on getting crazy and jumping off the bridge. I went first by back flipping off the base of the bridge. My friend taking it to the max. Climbed the bridge to it's very top and jumped. ~ Let me say this...At the time the water was at a all time low. from the base of the bridge 60 feet to the water. From the top of the bridge 85 feet to the water. Now I'm crazy but I want to live to tell my kids...

Long story cut short ~ My friend had broke his collarbone and blew out both his eardrums on the impact. Our ride came threw at 2: O'clock in the afternoon. With all the commotion and verbal abuse while getting into the car. I had forgot our rods, my FishingBudy II depth finder, and the radio. I did not realize it till I got home later that night.

$hit happens I know this.
Keep your head up and learn from your doing. Good or Bad

John is right about kicking down the gear you need for the tournament.
I'm down with helping you up.

Let me also mention. Back in Febuary I losted my trophy fishing photo book.
Shooting the $hit late one night after having a few cold ones.
I tossed the book up on top of the truck and drove off.
This hurts me in a bad way ~
More sentimental vaule to me than anything else.
________________________________________________________________

I also look at my lost as some things are made to happen???

Since lost of my photo book. I've been on a mission to refill another.

Well I can't say I've ever lost a tackle box but I came darn close last year. I was fishing a WON bass pro/am at Clear Lake with Albert Berends the second day. By the end of the day I was just beat after 4 days of fishing. I grabbed my stuff out of his boat and shook his hand. When I shook his hand though I set down my tackle bag on the rear wheel well of his boat trailer. I walked to my car about 200 feet and realized I didn't have my bag. I also had no idea where it had gone! I said more bad words in the next couple hours driving home ... I was so pissed I threw my hat out the window on 29 somewhere. Two days later I get an email from Albert. Turns out he had driven 10 miles down the road to where he was staying. He packed up his stuff and was just about to take off when his buddy said, "hey don't forget that tacklebox on your boat trailer." He looks and there is my box, it rode 10 miles down the road and never fell off. I think it was because it had soo much tackle in it! The thing weighed about 25lbs. There was probably close to a 1000 bucks worth of tackle in there and man was I lucky not to lose it all. Knock on wood right ...

I've never lost everything but I've left rods more than once and a Plano 3700 full of topwaters including a real wood Injured Minnow. That antique alone is now worth over $40, and I had over 8 other antiques in that box. Somebody got very lucky that day.
Becareful leaning rods against the car, you don't notice them if they fall, then you run them over, and that's down right painful.

Tight Lines,
Wade
