#989, "Okuma reels"

Hi everyone, i was told you could help, especially John. I need a new trout reel. I do not want to spend a mini fortune, but want something that is smooth and will not crap after three casts. I found a site that sells the Okuma Ultra Lite UL-10 for $25. Is this reel any good, or will it be junk. I posted on the Allcoast board and they said to tie it to some rope and throw it out as an anchor!! Thanks for your info. If you have any other recomendations that are also "value priced" but good quality, please post.

Thanks a bunch,
Joel

The people that told you to use it as an anchor have it all wrong there to light to do any thing other then hook-up,Okuma reels have been great to me.I use the Avenger series both the AV20 and AV30.They run about $60 but have 7 bearings.I do have a deal for you go to www.fishinglife.com they have an Acuador Pro, Spinning Reel, 3 Ball Bearings, Line Capacity: 155 Yards Of 4 Lb Test, 5.0-1 Retrieve Ratio. Free 6' Rod With Every Reel Purchased! this is a great reel and one heck of a deal I would jump all over it.Not sure what kind of rod you will get but the reel is worth the $ alone. If they ask tell them John Lake sent you from the Okuma and flippinlures Pro staff.

Good Luck
