#11974, "Clear Lake Report, Finally"

Well, here it is finally.
During the Invitational, I prefish the hell out of the lake and was able to find fish in several spots. I had three good morning spots that all produced fish on giant Rapala's and my new favorite spinner bait. I now through a Picasso, 1/2 " shad paturn double willow leaf.It the only blade my mom lets me use;-). I bought out all that the little tackle store that was going out of business had. They were 1/2 price, and just one look at them and I knew that they where the s#@t.
I found all my fish very tight to weed beds that were isolated from areas that had lots of weeds. These were very small beds, no bigger around than 1' or 2'. I noticed that they were far from any other big weed beds. A friend turned me on to this patern and 2 of my weed patches.
I would travel to a spot near Glen Haven every day by 10am. I was pulling RC3 Poe Plugs in shad patern as fast as I possible could and ripped them until my arms fell off. I would plop in and start paddling and pounding every inch of water as fast as I could.
I fish a secret spot every day of that Invitational during the last hour and I flipped and culed fish there on the second day. While prefishing I had found this spot in the tulies that was 50 or so feet long that had 5' of water in it. Yea baby, and it held keepers. I also had alittle luck from above on my side.

SCBBBC Last tournament of the year.

I used the same patern for this tourney as I did during the Invitational. I through the same baits too with one exception. I also through a 12" Slammer. Oh yea baby, and it worked for two fish. My south water really came on by noon. Thanks Rob, ( swimbait)

T.O.C.

Things changed big time for this show. People where on my morning spots so I just kind of blended in until the sun came up and I hit those isolated beds with that there 12" Monster Slammer. Talk about tricep's. Oh yea baby, I ripped the hell out of it. I would through the 12" Slammer for about 12 casts and then I would switch to the 7" Slammer for two dozen more casts and then the RC3 Poe plug until the arms recovered and then I would do it all over again. The thing I did totally wrong was that I hunted for big fish way to long and didn't focus on a limit. I knew how every one was doing, thanks to the grape vine, so I chose to go big. I got 8 bites and 6 fish, not counting the couple of dinks. I also figure that throughing the baits that I was, I might go over the top with a real double digit toad.
I got 1 fish on my new blade, 1 on my Poe Plug and 1 on the 12"er Slammer and 3 on the 7"er. Sorry John I had to keep ya all waiting for the report's, but my $'s where up against some sharp sticks. To out do these guys you need to work hard and keepem guessing and have a tone of Clear Lake Luck in your float tube.Oh yea, and you need to be in a round tube :-).

I would like to thank my new sponcers, Reliance Trailer Manufacturing, CAROBELLS.COM and Bucks Bag. I couldn't have done it with out there suport.
I would also like to thank Darren, Bill, Todd for being great sportsman and for raising the bar of this club. Watch out next season for this round tuber. I think I might even join the B-N-T'S for a few next season, if they'll have me.

Your Truely
Round Tube Rich ;-)
