Fit and other SF people.
I don't think this is for everyone but the stripers have started to hit the beaches! My friend pulled out a 12 lber the other day and I lost one. Just go at sunset, fish a couple hours, go home! Oh, we were using poppers in the surf. I'll be out there probably tonight then searching for spots on the delta Saturday.
Later!

Todd,
Try a white swimbait with a 3/4 to 1 oz leadhead. They love em!
And you're right about your dad's weeds. We tend to let them grow when we get older since the son doesn't help out so much any longer.

All of next week, I'll be going out to the beaches for some Striper action.
I wanted to go today/nite but I need to get ready for this weekend.
Keep me posted.

Probably better you didn't go yesterday as the ocean was very rough. I'm guessing the waves were well over 10ft tall as I didn't even really see too many surfers on the water. I was out there for a couple hours and didn't hit anything. Saw the regular's take off about the time I arrived (7:30pm). Hopefully we'll have calmer seas. I'll keep you guys informed! My buddy will probably be out there today if the waves calm down.
Todd
Lyzfish, I'll try you suggestion soon!

Yeah, Nico, I did get a chance to drive by Ocean Beach (hint, hint Fit) and it was still pretty big. If you can imagine it was worse yesterday but I still tried (had to give my new Catala a try!)
So, Fit, the beaches of choice would be Pacifica and Ocean. I live so close to Ocean I'll probably spend most of my time there but the action is supposed to be a little hotter in Pacifica.

Oh, it pays to watch out for those red light violators, my truck got pretty messed up in the front today. Ouch.

Try Stinson beach, I bet those great whites love those white spinner baits.. Problem is they are just to hard to catch and release.

Todd, sorry to hear about the truck hope no one was hurt.
As for ocean beach do you have a favorite street you cross over at or do you just wander the beach? I use to cross at taravel and fish for surfperch, it was good at one time haven’t been out there in years.

Fit,
I guess there's a number of holes on Ocean but the only real ones I know about are the one near Noriega and the one I went to south of the last parking area (like you're going towards Lake Merced). I'll be giving my friend a call today to see if he's had a chance to go out. Also, down below the cliff house is supposed to be a good area.
Oh, as for the accident, one guy (who was t-boned) said he felt like his ribs were going to be bruised but he made it out ok (although he had to get out of his passenger door). Man, that guy who ran the red seemed to be a nice guy but why couldn't he have paid attention! We must have had three seconds of green before he came through!

Below the Cliff House (AKA Kelly's Cove) is known for surfing; I spent a lot of time there when I was growing up. We also use to fish Sloat beach a lot, I have seen some good stripers come out of there. Maybe I will see you out there some time.
