Having only a few hours to fish this week, I decided that I was gonna hit El cap for some serenity and some good old fashioned bass fishing. I was looking forward to throwing the big stuff, and figured that the little rain cell coming through could only increase my chances of finding her, in all her prespawn glory. Much to my dismay, I came around the corner to find a dork tournament going on. Well, I had two choices; get over it or leave. I got over it.

I got to my spot and it was taken. Big surprise there. So I waiting and waited and finally got my shot and pulled up and dropped anchor. I spent most of the morning looking for her to no avail. I practiced with my fly rod for awhile. Then I got desperate, so I put a 4” Margarita Monkeyspanker III on my 4lb test rod and started wiggling. I missed a couple bites then I got this dink. Saved the day, and saved the weekend, got the LMB smell on my fingertips, and was done at 11am. It was fun worming in the rain, the anticipation factor for Big Moe was high. As usual, Big Moe managed to avoid my live well. Touche’
