Ryan, good choice on the Curado, I would take the time to look at the Super Free version of the reel, for $20 more, it is well worth it, especially for light line applications, as far as a rod, a crankbait rod can crossover weel as far as versatility goes, usually a crankbait style taper/action on a rod, is extremely comprable, IMO, w a spinnerbait or topwater rod. I would suggest a 7 foot rod, w/ a medium/fast taper, and a medium/light action, as you move into baits that create more resistance, i.e----> big spinnerbaits, deep-diving cranks) a little more beef near the seat of the rod is applicable, hope this helps bro... nosehookrook
