#4431, "SD Bay, 1-5-02"

Tried the night bite, 7:45 - 11:30pm. Launched from Spanish Landing (over by the airport) and worked the ends of the docks, working around to the gas dock and back. The fish were biting o.k., though mostly it was short bites. The bit till 10:30, then it went dead. I finished with 5 legals and 2 shorts. All the fish were small, with the biggest going maybe 1.5#. It was relaxing though, and I only saw 5 boats the whole night (one was HP and they left me alone). Red was the color, what version didn't seem to matter nor was size really an issue. Most came on the Baby Brush Hog, watermelon w/ red flake.

A cop kept shining his light on me as I worked my way back. He met me at the beach when I got out. Turned out the park closes at 10:30, though all the other times I've fished there I never saw anyone asked to leave. In fact I've never seen a sign giving hours. But, he was cool about it, so it was no big deal. I was cold anyways, so I wasn't planning on hanging out. I wanted my feet thawed. Hopefully, next weeks fish day won't get jacked up like today. I prefer day time at Shelter.
