are you fishing stripers or largemouth. the stripers seem to hit the bait just under the surface. slow reeling it to where it just goes under. as for the largemouth i think they like it to clack clack clack pause and then repeat. most the largemouth bites i have gotten on the slammer come on the pause. well the striper will hit the bait so hard it feels like they want to rip the rod right out of your hand.
just my thoughts and tech's for the bait. also i have notice with all of my slammer's they are different. hand crafting tends to make the baits a little different between batch's. pretty much any slammer you have will work. you just have to throw them alot and figure out which is the best way to work the ones you have.
