Has anyone made their own? I'm thinking a walk thru Home Depot will yeild some material to make your box.
If anyone has made one, would you care to list the components you used.
Thanks

SWMB8TER did a post about this a while back. Now someone ripped off his idea and marketed it. I'm sure you could do a search and find it.

I have made my own boxes. I followed the directions that were posted on this site. They work great.

Here is the link, don't know what happened to the pictures that went with it.

Oops they were hosted on my website and I think I deleted the folder. Let me see if I can't find them on my HD and load them back up.

Carrot top, that is cool man.
Have you had any issues with rust?

Have you found a bag to store the boxes on end?

I guess I could use a back pack.

Thanks for going back and posting your pics back up.

It has been awhile since I made the boxes. For the most part when I go fishing from shore I'll take one of these boxes for the wider bodied swimbaits (ie bbz-1, baby tool, shell cracker, rock hard platinum) and the soft baits, Mattlures bluegills, huddlestons etc. The other 2 or 3 I made sit in storage with the soft baits that I am not bringing or haven't used in awhile.

My slammers, lunker punkers, rovers and other slimmer swimbaits are just put into a lure box similar to a plano 3700 ( I think that's the size)

I actually found a nice tackle bag for when I am in a boat. It is made my Okeechobee Fats and can be picked up at Walmart for about $40 which includes 8 tackle boxes similar to the plano. It has quite a few outside pockets and the tackle boxes inside can be set up in a few different configs depending on how many of the vertical boxes you are using.

I think I am going to get some aluminum rod and use some of that King Starlite xl that is left over from my boat decks and make 2 of them into my boats compartments. Then I can boil all those baits and hang them. I am going to do some notches so the whole rod can be pulled out wth all the baits on it and divide the compartments in to rows.

Plastic file folder boxes are cheap and hold more. I have one that would convert to a swimbait box pretty nice. The ones that hold hanging file folders can be modified pretty easily. Notch the end of some rods to sit on the part the folders hang from and put some dividers in it. All that is left is to attach your hooks or clips or whatever to the rods. I kind of like being able to pull the whole rod out and then get my lure. If you divide the box so that each rod has its own compartment then the lures bang together less on the way to the lake and the hooks tangle less. Those boxes hold 8" baits well.
Peace, Rich

Well I finally figured out how I am going to make my haging swimbait compartments in my boat. I bought some 3/16 aluminum rod on Ebay and will be sliding split rings on to them that have those snaps for quick lure changes on them. I will then put tie wraps on both ends so nothing slides off. I will screw some King starlite xl around the top 2 sides of my tackle locker in my boat after it is notched for the rods on the top edge. I will also divide the compartment so that each bar has its own bay for lures to reduce hook tangles and sway. I will then divide that bay in half and notch that panel that runs the opposite way of the rods. This will support the rod in the middle. This set up will allow me to pull the rods out without anything sliding off and allow me to lay it on the deck and pull the swimbait off the snap. I have the plastic King Starlite board for the dividers and I bought 12- 3/16 x 4' aluminum rods for $12.00 all I need to do is get the split rings and the snaps. This will give me storage for at least 100 hanging swimbaits
Peace, Rich

hope its funtional, sounds like a fun project. Would like to see some pics upon completion.
With the cost of swimbaits, you need to do things like this, its quite the investment.
