#12142, "5/31 Hermosa Beach Report"

Hit Hermosa Beach this morning right in between the Hermosa and Manhattan Beach piers around 26th Street. Conditions were pretty good, fished the hour before and two hours after the high tide. Fishing was pretty much wide open, but you had to work to find the soft shells. My friend and I ended with a dozen mixed barred surf perch and croaker, and I was lucky enough to end up with a 16" corbina and lost about a 20" corbina after a 5 min fight right at shore.

GEAR: carolina rig on ultra light gear fitted with #4 maxima main line and #2 test leader. No hits on the 2" power grubs, WIDE OPEN on the soft shells (they're there, you just have to work to find them).

Did see a few corbina up in the shallows, but nothing out of the ordinary. Not many weeds. Beautiful day and great fishing overall.:-)
