Hey Loye!
I live in Templeton and fish every weekend on the lakes around here (San Antonio, Naci, Santa Margarita, Lopez). I mostly fish from a Kickboat (fished San Antonio on Sunday) or like Yesterday, I go rent a boat at Lake Cachuma and have an awsome day trolling. If you have a float tube you should also check out a club called North Kern Float tubers (NKFT.com). I gave some flyers describing the club and Tournament dates to the folks at Tackle Warehouse in SLO to hang up. The Club is having about 5 Float tube/Kickboat Tournaments in this area this year. Its a lot of fun and you learn a bunch about fishing at the same time. I will be heading out of town till Xmas....(next free fishing day is the 30th) Drop me an email if you want to hook up and go fishing!

Bryan

Hey Brian,

If you get a chance to take that boat of yours out, you should take that short trek for you up to Cachuma. I was trolling a couple of different things yesterday for about 5 hours, ended up with 2 large Trout, 2 dink trout, a nice size Smallie, and a huge Crappie ( bigger then the one they have stuffed on the wall there):) I am a true believer in those 3" Big Hammers Trapped rigged in the "Sea Wolf" color. You never know what will grab onto those baits.....Havn't seen much happening else where except for the Spots at Naci.

Bryan,
sounds like a good day ,i saw they stocked trout last week hopefully they keep them coming.hows the lake level? last time i launched there they were on the secondary launch and it was even pretty dangerous to launch then.have you tried the surf lately ? i went to my local dunes last week and only caught 2 in 4 hours of fishing and hiking around.

Brian,

Cachuma Lake level is way low, they are able to launch boats there, like you said from the secondary ramp. I watched a couple of boats being launched and it didn't look to bad. The guy at the boat rental said the lake will be going down further too! Too bad. We had the best luck straight across from the marina then down towards the dam on the same side. As for the surf, I have not been out yet, I did read that post in here about perch fishing north of Morro Bay Rock, sounded promising. Seems to me it was around this time last year when it started picking up around Oceano. The next day I can fish is the 30th, so I will flip a coin between Surf fishing Oceano and kickboating Naci.

Have a great Holiday!
Bryan
