Is anyone catching Halibut from the SB beaches?

Got no money but got halibut. A buddy of mine, my wife and I took the 12ft fiberglass out to the kelp on the south side of Goleta pier last Saturday morning (5/19). Sketchy launch off the beach...almost got smashed by shore-break. We started power drifting on the shore side of the kelp line with no luck. After 45 min. or so we moved on over to the ocean side kelp line. Blam! The wife nailed a 23" flattie using a 4" channel island chovy on the power drift. While making another pass I got a decent hit which shredded my 5" olive bb w/ orange belly. The wind started to pick up, so dreading the ever increasing shore-break we headed back, very happy with the keeper.
