Bryan and I took a quick float tube trip out to Goleta Beach. Got in the water at about 6:00 pm. The conditions were less than desirable. The weather was nice but there was a lot of loose floating weeds in the water and lots of them on shore. Luckily, it seemed like most of the weeds were on the surface so using a slow bottom bouncing retrieve didn't gather too many weeds. I ventured East to see if the water cleaned up and it just got worse. Then I ventured slightly West and found a cleaner patch of water in tight (easily reachable from the surf). Hooked up with the first halibut of the day and got into a pretty good bite on for about the next half hour. We ended up with 9 halibut (1 legal) and a few sand bass. All fish were caught on light tackle (8 lb.) and 3 inch swimbaits on yellow jig heads. Swimbait colors were Blue Shad, Margarita and Baby Bass.
