Heard some good ones recently through the grapevine.
The first one was from Canada and is definitely for real as it was reported on the news. A guy caught an 88lb Lake Trout on a flatfish and released it. Apparently it was his first time fishing although he was a guide. Biologists estimated the fish to be over 100 years old. That's pretty cool, I still haven't hunted down a pic yet.
The other good rumor I heard was a supposed 82lb striper out of San Luis Resiviour. Now that sounds like a tall tale to me but ... the state record I think came out of Oneil Forebay and was in the 60lb range. So anything is possible.

O'niel Forebay is right and the Record is over 65# and there's a flyrod record over 60# from there too. I met the guy who set the Flyrod record and let me say he's intense. I haven't heard about the 82#r, but if it happened San Luis would be the place. 2 years ago I had a 2.5# Striper get attacked there. I didn't see the fish that grabbed it but it was coming in easy on 15# line and all of a sudden it took of in the other direction for about 20'. Then it was dropped and I reeled it in to find a half dead fish with Big bite marks covering both cheeks and back onto the body to the pectoral fins. It was thrilling to say the least.
