Besides reading his book, and talking to people who have read "in pursuit of giant bass", i havent heard anything else about the guy recently. Does anyone know what hes is up to, if he is still trophy hunting, is he doing a guide service, or if hes just alive and doing well. I was curious because i think the guy is brilliant. Anyone who knows please post back. thanks
He puts it all in perspective... "I loved the sport long before I ever caught a big bass," Murphy said. "Catching fish was secondary. I just loved being on the spot, catching 6-, 7-and 8-pounders."

Bill can be found in San Diego County. I have seen him this year at San Vicente for sure, and I know he's not too far from the other SD lakes that produce the better fish. I would imagine he's out at Wholford, Miramar, Hodges, Jennings, Poway, Dixon....
He's definitely alive and kicking. He's got an aluminum rig he's dialed in over the years. He can launch it at places like Hodges and Miramar where other bass boats can't go.
To answer your question, Bill is in San Diego County. I don't think he's into guiding. He's definitely NOT a tournament fisherman.
