I've got a friend who is new to swimbaiting but and old hand at fishing,he wants a rod that can throw even the 12" baits but is trying to keep it under a $100-,i checked out the heartlands but they are a lil light.any sugesstions ?,i can even start from blanks for him and have them finished for a reasonable rate .so all input is appreciated,hes looking to buy one friday so please post replies by then. thank you in advance brian Catch Alot,Photograph a few,Release them all...

Check out the Okuma big bait rods at tacklewarehouse. I haven't tried them but mattlures recommended it on one of my posts. It's only $89 and you can check out Rob's review on it.

I use the 7.6 heavy and its great for the 7-9" stuff and will work for the 12" baits. The xtra heavy would feel a bit better for the 12" stuff and will work for the 7" stuff. It really depends on what you think he will throw more of.
