#1042, "Bonehead moves in March"
|
About 2 weeks ago I thought about applying for the bonehead move in March award. I caught and released a 7 footer with an Osprey ...unfortunately it was one of my own 7 foot / 4600C3 combos that was laying on top of the rod locker. The Opsrey stayed connected to the pole that I was using, but the other rod and reel few about 30 feet away from the boat and sank in 30 feet of water. I was already sick with the virus from hell, and that pretty much ended my 1 hour fishing trip. After somewhat recoverying from the flu, I finally felt good enough to go fishing today. Fortunately for me, today's entertainment was from another boat. I watched a guy attempt to hop from the front deck of his bass boat onto the dock, only to miss the dock. Yep, your depth sounder is correct, it's at least 10 feet deep at the end to dock. The guy was ok, just cold and wet. After trying to fish a jig in the wind for about an hour, I gave up and tossed a DD22 and Big Fat Free Shad. I had one dink follower on the shad and I got 1 bite / 1 fish at 11-11 on the DD22 (If I had my downrigger weights I would of had something for Mike). I took an quick look at the south end and the water is muddy but the water level and cover looks pretty good. Too bad I flip jigs like I cast an Osprey.

Nice fish. That was my father that took the swim yesterday, he was a little impatient getting to the dock. Like you said he was fine just a little wet. If you know the guy that helped me getting him back on the dock tell him "thank you". Now for the fishing part, I also found it very slow, my father caught 3 trout on crankbaits & I had 1 big fish swipe at my Slammer 3 times but she never opened her mouth on it.

Tony - Tell your dad, at least he didn't toss one of his poles overboard.

Scot,
Nice fish. BTW, were you the guy who came over to the Red Ranger (that's me) to chat then spoke to the guy walking off with 5 bass on a stringer about catch and release on Sun 3/24 at Calero?
If it was, I wanted to thank you again for educating that guy and helping the fish population stay at a healthy level at Calero.
