#262, "Favorite Colors for Trophy Bass? (Saltwater)"
Winter is almost here and the big Calicos and Sandies are going to start to move in, so I have to ask, what is your favorite color when targeting bass with swimbaits? I seem to catch all my big Calicos on the 4" Keylime FT. I haven't caught a really big sand bass on plastic yet, but most of my 2-3# fish have been on the lime green or Halloween colors. What about you?

My all-around fave Big Hammer is the #48 brownback grunion (scored several 6 pound-class fish). For winter colors, I like #16 clear/red flake (my largest, a 6 pound 9.6 ounce), halloween and #49 green brownbait/orange belly. There are some new winter-themed colors Hammer just came out with: rock crab, calico hunter w/ red flake, reef critter--they are all red, brown, orangey--should be hot for the bottom bite, I will be testing some soon.

I have caught most of my best calicos on the good old olive big hammer. This has long been a favorite in SB. Living in Fremont now I haven't had much of a chance to do a lot of saltwater fishing lately, but if I was heading out this winter I would probably mostly be throwing that, the new silver sardine color, #13 Silver Flash / Green Back, and any of Larry's colors.
