Dude, I have been in the market for a boat for a while. Trolling motor specs are high on the agenda. I can tell you that the pros say 5 pounds for every 200 pounds. 30 pounds thrust is way more than enough for your application. Find a way to go minimum 12 volts (deep cycle) and you will be more than happy. Have fun, James. 777
