Nicco, I think 5/8" screw for the 6" plug and 3/4" for 7 1/2" is too short. I used 1 1/8" to 1 1/2" for my plugs and I also used liquid nail when I applying the screws. I have 1 1/8" & 1 1/2" SS screw and I can help you to fix the plugs you have. I don't know how to get the plugs to the review section....(to whom & where). I would appriciated your input.
