After getting skunked at Puddingstone this morning, I decided to make a short trip to Peck Rd. this afternoon just to give a few throws. Got there at about 4:30 and noticed that the park closes at 5:00 but headed down anyway. Threw a split tail (jointed) minow and after about 15-20 casts I changed by retrieve to a faster, bouncing retrieve and hooked up with a smaller sized bass (maybe 10 inches long). At about that point I realized I was using my light gear (7 foot UL rod with 4 lbs test line). I got the little green guy about 2 feet from shore when he manage to snap the line. I think it was actually my knot that broke (or came undone) which just goes to show how important that can be. Anyway, that was my first hook up at Peck ever and it came in a short 20-30 minute trip (left after losing another minnow lure to weeds).
