What are some good distances to try between the dropshot hook and the bottom? Also, what are some good scents to use on plastics and other lures when fishing for largemouth bass? I have most of the scents used in the ocean and those that are used for trout. I have been mostly an ocean and trout angler and will be fishing Cachuma next week, where I have only fished for trout and redear, to try my hand for the first time at dropshotting, spinnerbaits, and BH swimbaits for bass. My dropshotting will be at the beds. Any other suggestions for bass fishing at Cachuma next week, beyond the recent posts that I have read here (e.g., the informative reports of Brian #2) will be much appreciated. Also, I have seen many pond largemouth and stream smallmouth caught with lures like roostertails, kastmasters, needlefish, panther martins, etc. but I never seem to read about such lures for bass at calfishing.com. Is this because the emphasis here is on larger bass and bass in lakes, and these lures are not highly productive for these purposes? Thanks.
Bob
