Hey Bassin!!!! I have had my best year ever this year and most of it has happen on that strip of beach. I have caught 3 legal halibuts there, 22, 23, and 25 inches long. I even stepped on a 4th big one backing out the water while landing the 25 inch one. I know it was a big one cause when I stepped on its head, the tail started slapping my inner leg hard, it nearly struck you know what. I have caught 4 corbina, 3 of which were on that same strip. The ones I caught there were 16 1/2, 17 1/2, and 18 inches long. You can always see Corbina all over. And too numerous BP's to number, but the last 3 days I have got about about 18 in the 12-15 1/2 inch range. If you divide that strip into quarters it goes like this. The far east quarter are the flats, the second quarter is where the trough begins, it ends in the middle of the third quarter. In the third quarter the trough ends. also in the third quarter there are 2 big bowls or ponds (depressions), and there is a third bowl in the fourth quarter and more flats when you get near the rocks at the far West end. I will hit the trough and the bowls, then cross then onto the sand bars, then fish the deeper waters beyond. The troughs and depressions are anywhere from 2-4 feet deep, so its not problem crossing, if it was you just walk around them. Anyway, you see why I like La Conchita so much. Maybe you can join us for our Ventura County PerchFest on 7/31 from 0800-1 pm. We havent decided if its going to be in La Conchita or the Edison plant on Harbour in Oxnard. More details to follow. If I can help any further just let me know. Stay safe and happy fishing!! Cali_bear
