Launched out of Dana with buddy Brandon and went north. Hopes weren't too high considering the recent low water temps. Boat's meter went offline this AM, so we fished blind. Slid into an area with no signs of surface life--no kelp, no bait dimpling, nothing. Well, it turned out to be an epic morning. We had a fairly steady bite on calicos with the smallest 2#. Great bite on the surface iron, and larger Big Hammers. We had to split at noon but ended up with 27 calicos, the 5 largest totaling 26 pound 5 oz (6-8, 5-10, 5-8, 4-10, 4-1). Most of our fish went 3-4 pounds. All released. Very foggy--it rolled in and out. Water temps were 60 to 63.7. A fun time, we're stoked!

Some guy and his gal on a CC comes between us and the beach in the fog. He goes outside of us, then turns back in and loses his bearings. He's heading into the surfline. We soon hear his boat gunning for safe water and are afraid he'll hit us in his panic. He clears us and then tries to head south again in the fog and again turns too sharply to shore. Unbelievable.
Also, we got a visit from the DFG. Both wardens were very nice. We thought they were another fishing boat coming in to score on our bite, lol!
