#14193, "SFC 10/09/06"

Monday morning. Met up with Mkim to do some beach hiking. Of course I brought the 6’- 6lb- $7 special with me. Matt was essentially acting as the host and guide. He has caught nearly 50 spotfin in the surf this year and I have never got one in the surf, nor have I ever gotten a big one. After a few farmed fish, I finally got my first surf croaker. YEAAAAY!!!! Soon I got another, then another. Here’s a shot of number 2 and 3.

I named them Mac and Jack, then I sang them Ebony and Ivory just before I ripped out their gills and threw them on the sand to die.

There were tons of jumbo barred surf perch to keep us busy too.

I forgot to mention that Matt nailed a big fat 22”er right out of the gate. Unfortunately I do not have a picture of it. Soon I got spotfin number 4 and it was bigger than the first 3. Then I got number five and it was bigger than the first 4. Here’s 4 and 5.

My biggest is 22” around 4lbs. WOOT WOOT!!! I have been wanting a man sized spotfin on light gear for quite some time now. It was a fishing goal I have attempted many times before and failed. I can now check it off the list.

Fishing is boring.
