A couple days ago, I stopped off to see my old girlfriend Zuniga jetty. While I was there, I tossed the flyrod out and caught 3 dinky calicos. These were the first fish I caught with my flyrod, bringing me to a grand total of 4 flyrod caught fish in my entire life.

Today I went back, and because I was now a veteran expert flyrod angler, I purposely left the Jetty Worms and other conventional bass gear at home. Unfortunately, I also left my fly box at home. I had one tied on my rod and one other that just happened to be in the boat. So here I am, at 7am, at the jetty, with 1 rod and 2 flies, and very little fly fishing experience. I almost went home right then, but after the standard hissy-fit meltdown, I started fishing. Soon I had my first fish of the day, which was also my first keeper fish at almost 14”.

I reflected. I could now feed myself with my flyrod if I wanted to, or needed to.

I started catch dinks.

This was my third fish and unfortunately he ruined my fly. And many fantasies were learned, on that day.

Soon I had another 14”er which absolutely proved my point, that lesbian Baptist suck at doing the dishes.

This was starting to get fun. The tide was ripping and I had to fish the protected areas. I was catching dinks with the precision and skill of a seasoned pro. Flyfishing for me, is 95% raging hatred and 5% glee. I had successfully captured 7 fish already, and then I caught this guy….

I had to use the net for this mug, which is no easy task with a 9’ rod. Eventually the tide calmed down and I went out to the deeper end and after some tennis shoe wrapping and some, knotted messes, and a little cursing, I caught this dude.

This was my 12th bass, and I ended the day with 13 fish. I think I would’ve caught more but, I was using this as a lure, almost the whole time.

Surprisingly, the fish ate it anyway.

Next stop,…LMB.
