David Fong (Fongster) and I took the tubes out this morning to give the bass a shot off of Shoreline Park. We kicked out to about 25 feet and started fishing the plastics through the kelp. David got one short calico and I got a sandy (not counting the jacksmelt I got on Shad Rap on the way out). The water was very clear and there was a decent current but we couldn't get more than just a few short strikes. David got another calico that was barely legal. On our way back in in about 20 feet of water I get another tap, crank down, and swing - finally into something solid. Turned out to be a fat 27 inch halibut. Hand landing it was interesting - I definetely need to get a Boga Grip. Tagged and released. Worked the shallows for a few minutes for nothing.
