I usually fish in my tube with a buddy of mine down in either the Malibu or Palos Verdes areas of LA. I fished down in PV about 2 weeks ago and caught 4 calicos, one of them was about 4 pounds, a short WSB, and tail-hooked a 15 pound shovelnose guitarfish...I thought I had the mother of all halibuts with that one on the line!
I just found this site and am seeing that I'm not the only one who gladly accepts the title of "sharkbait". I'm going down to LA to get my tube this weekend am am curious if anyone would like to join me in hitting up some of the reefs a few miles north or Goleta sometime next week. I was thinking of Tajiguas as the primary destination. Anyone know if it gets too oily up there? I haven't fished there yet, but I've heard it holds some lumpy calico bass. I plan to fish plastics primarily, but might bring along some fresh dead squid to use as trailers or whole if the fish are hard to come by. Lemme know if yer interested. (I can drive....)
