#6663, "Ensenada surf"

I'll make this report short. I went down fishing from 18-21 with my brother and two of my cousins fron San Jose who surf fish up there. We fished La Jolla beach camp near La Bufadora most of the time since we were camping there. Fishing was slow the whole we were there. I caught mostly small corbina, a few yellowfin croaker, dimond turbot, Halibut and small shovelnose. We also tried near La Salinas for a few good sized perch and the rest a slow pick at small fish. On the last morning I was there I did lose a corbina that was at least 5 pounds right in the surf. We had bad tides and some weeds in the water. I talked to some people who said that there were gill nets not far from the beach so maybe that had something to do with it. A local fisherman launched from the beach on his little boat and brought back a few calicos and small barracuda. He also said fishing has been slow. I'll probably try again in the fall.
