Saturday I got to go fishing on a local fishermans boat based out of Avila Beach. When I arrived at 6 A.M. there were boats a mile long waiting at the hoist. We got to the fishing grounds alittle later than we would like. From daylight until about 10 A.M. the radio was alive with reports of nice sized albies. They were locatedat the weathet Bouy located about 12 miles from Avila. There was another good area about 4-6 miles west of the buoy. We spoke with one gentelman who had 17 albies on board. We started to get fish about one in the afternoon. Our first stop got a troll fish and one on the fishtrap. They were nice 35-40 pound fish. We had a few more stops for one fish each time. I caught about a 45 pounder on bait. It killed me on twenty pound. Are last stop was a triple jig strike about 10 miles from the port. We ended up with 8 for the day. The boats that stayed late were really doing well. Morro Bay reported over 200 for the day. Weather was flat calm, with a breeze in the afternoon.
