After looking at the surf at several other launch sites up north, I finally launched at Topanga at around 7 and fished in shallow throughout the day. I assumed that there would be some nice halibut spawning in shallow so all I brought was one rod and some swimbaits. The swell was up and the water was Puddingstone brown and I realized right away that I wasn't going to catch much. I fished in shallow for a while then started blind casting out deep as the wind allowed. I think the water is just too cold to catch them in shallow right now. At around 9 the wind died down to a steady breeze and I tried fishing off of Topanga Point in 20-30ft of water for the only action of the day, 4 sandies (3 legal) and 1 legal calico. Also farmed a few bites. The only thing that produced for me was 5" Big Hammers in Calico Hunter II and Sardine. Tommy
