#12584, "Cat & SMB Report w-pics"

Had the pleasure of fishing with a good friend of the family, Dr. John Tassin from Ville Platte, Lousiana. Dr. John is a consummate outdoorsman who has been hunting and fishing for almost 60 years. Dr. John has treated me to some of the best fishing I have ever experienced off the Louisiana coast. Pressure was on to make sure we put some meat on the boat. We spent the first of two days fishing Catalina Island for Rockfish, Calicos, Halibut and Whitefish.

Here I am with my first Vermilion of the day, a nice 7 pounder that ate a Jax Jig fished below a teaser shrimp fly.

Here is John with one of the many pesky Bocaccio's that attacked our baits. This was John's first Bocaccio.

On day two we decided to sleep in and take an easy trip down to Marina Del Rey. We brought along my 6 yr old daughter Valerie and Dr. John's son Tre. We fished the 180 ft deepwater Sand Bass bite with the rest of the fleet around 12 noon. We fished that area for about 2 hours and caught over 30 Sand Bass.

Here is Tre with one of his bigger Sand Bass.

Here is my daughter going bendo on a Grumpy Sand Bass. She really had a good time fishing those Sandies.

We later went into shallower water and drifted for Halibut and only got 1 short and farmed to big mystery fish. Ouch!! It was a fun two days of SoCal fishing with my good friend Dr. John, his son Tre and my Daughter Valerie. Can't wait to wet another line again. HOOK-UP!!
