#12631, "Haskel's 8-15-04 Float Tube"

Met Brian #2 Sunday morning for some float tube action. Launched about 7:00 AM through some fairly big surf (by float tube standards). I almost got caught by a roller but powered over the top safely. On my third cast I nailed a short flattie on the Fastrac and about 15 min later got another. #2 also managed a shorty and we worked our way down towards the pier. The water was nice but the the weeds were pretty bad and it was hard to get a clean cast. Went through a long dry spell and I headed over to the pier while #2 worked back towards the launch spot. Then the fog rolled in and I couldn't see #2 anymore. I worked around the pier with a 4 inch Big Hammer in Seawolf color. As I got to the West side I tossed out and was working it back with a 3 cranks and a pause, 3 cranks and a pause type retrieve. Got bit and wound down on something solid, set the hook and was on. I could tell it wasn't a flattie as it fought hard and made some quick runs. Ended up being a 24 inch WSB. Cool! Kept tossing the Hammer and about 10 min later was on again, this time a 20 WSB comes up. Then I boated a nice olive kelp bass. Well I knew #2 would be stoked to get into the WSB so I called him on my cell phone to get him to kick over. " Hello, whats up, dude where are you, I'm at home, at home? I'm on a hot WSB bite" loser went home. Oh well, that will teach him to leave early. Ended up kicking back over to the flattie zone and ended up getting 2 more shorts and 1 viscious strike. All in all a fun day.

Bryan
