#13559, "First saltwater trips in Hawaii !!!"

Hello to all on the saltwater board, I'm dockboy. You probably haven't seen a post of mine on this board; I'm pretty much a freshwater fisher, until my first time on the salt recently on a vaction to Hawaii. I never realized just how much fun saltwater is. Anyways, for 2 weeks my family & I visited the Big Island of Hawaii on the Kona coast. Reknowned for it's world class bluewater, Kona turned out to be a perfect vacation spot. Over 2 weeks, I went on two different charters. Though the fishing was unusually tough on both trips, but overall we did o.k. We didn't catch any of the marlin we hoped for but that was fine because we ended up with not only at 40+ pound wahoo(ono in Hawaiian) but also wth a 9 foot white-tip shark that weighed 250 pounds! We also did good on skipjck with light tackle( we were using them for bait), including a very nice 8 pounder by my dad. I'm hooked by the salt now, I'll never look at freshwater the same ever again. Just to top it off, we got to see most of the HIBT tournament (Hawaiian International Billfsh Tounament). I had a great time & now I can't wait to get out on the local saltwater here in Californai!

Tight lines,
dockboy

Bass + Fisherman= BAASS ADDICTT!!!
