Took my buddy Brandon with me on the faithful 15 Gregor, Bassomatic. The boat ran awesome as it just had a tune up by Clark's Marine. We started north of Dana Harbor for a slow pick on some shallow calicos. One of my goals was to get a surface iron fish on my new Shimano Teramar 90H jig rod. That was met after a few casts with a 2# checker. Brandon landed a nice 4# calico on a 5-inch Big Hammer soon after. That bite never really took off so we moved south to fish some kelp spots and that too was just a fish here or there. We moved south of the harbor to fish some hardbottom spots and were met by the same slow bite. That last stop did get me a just-over-legal halibut (22.25"). Neither one of us was in the mood to fillet it, so it was released. Besides the 'but, we ended up with 13 bass between us with four of them being sandies--most were 1-2# with Brandon's 4# taking top honors. All released. Wind was still down when we split at 11:30 and the water was 62.1 to 64.9.
