Brandon and his friend took their dinghy down to the harbor and I met them with the float tube for some white seabass chasin. When I got there at about 7 they'd already caught a few sandbass and shortly after I arrived Brandon caught a short halibut. They proceeded to put a couple more bass in the boat before we fished for seabass. I threw the white/red squiggle fastrac while Brandon threw plastic. We didn't get touched for a while and were beginning to wonder what was up, when I finally got one at about 8:30. The fish bit pretty close to the boat, spun me around and smoked my curado. About 25, 30ft. later, DINK. GGGRRRRRR!!!!! There goes my favorite fastrac... I later realized that the night before, I'd had to cut out a backlash and spliced the remaining line back on with a blood knot, with intentions of re-spooling later. Well, guess where that line broke?... Oh well. I kinda feel bad that there's a fish with some extra jewelry swimmin around, but those cheezy hooks will rust out really quick. At least they're good for something. The two fish I caught last night didn't take any drag (well, one took a little bit I guess) and my drag setting was actually a little tighter this evening, so I think it's safe to assume that the fish was at least legal. Of course they ARE seabass and some of em fight like there's no tomorrow while others hardly fight at all, so it's hard to tell. Oh well. Now I gotta repaint another fastrac. I guess that color works or something. -Brian
