Stopped at Goleta beach on my way home from SLO on Friday evening. Only had 2 hours to fish but walked up to the stairs and paddled back to the parking lot. Brian Long met me out there, and we talked to Pete (kanamit) who was shore fishing off the rock. The fishing was slow for the first hour and a half. I caught one little short by the stairs. As it was getting late we stopped in front of the parking lot at the beach and I picked up 4 shorts to around 18 inches. Another guy was using bait there and was doing ok, he reported getting 6 shorts before we came and caught 2 more while we were there. We were using 4" sardine fish traps.
