#3195, "King Harbor 9/1"

I wanted to fish Escondido for seabass today but with all the southerly swell from that hurricane, the water was too murky for my dad who was scuba diving, so we opted for the King Harbor breakwall. I tried bounce balling, drifting with frozen anchovies and plastics without a bite during the early morning hours so I went in and fished around the bait barge the rest of the day. There was a lot of boat traffic while I was there so I rarely had a chance to get within casting range of the barge, but when I did, it usually resulted in a sandbass or a farmed bite. I ended the day with 5 sandbass up to 13", and the bonus fish, a 17" seabass. I wonder if there are some legals around the barge, like at SB harbor, I'll have to try night fishing the area sometime. All the fish were caught on FTs on the drop, none on the retrieve. The fishermen using live bait had a slow but steady bite on the short halibut, macks and bass. My dad got one 26"'but and saw a few shorts while diving the breakwall.
Good Luck,
Tommy
