For those of you have an interest in trying for corbina off the beaches, I thought I would report this great bite. My buddy and I went to Summerland beach at 6am to try for some surf perch before he had to head back down south to LA. We were fishing the usual rig with 4lb test, a 3/8 sliding sinker and a #6 bait hook. We started fishing the grubs and had a wide open bite for the first hour or so before I decided to try for a corbina on a sandcrab. First cast and BANG! A nice 2-3lb corbina. After that it went crazy. Almost every cast resulted in a nice corbina. We ended the day with about 8 corbina, 50+ perch, 1 tiny leopard shark, 1 sand shark and a few yellowfin croaker. For those of us who do not yet have boats of our own, this will just have to do for now!
