#46, "iron albies/bluefin"

Aaaaaahhhhhh on the iron! Those were the words coming out of my mouth ever other stop on the El Dorado 1.5 day last week.A slow trip(40 albies and 2 blues) was highliged by 5 albies-1 on the rubber the rest on the iron for me. My salas 6x junior was the hot jig because nobody else could get them on the iron. The chrome jig fished on a yellowtail special and 50 pound was my set up. <BR> The day started 100 miles from long beach. We were fishing with the sad diego fleet but had the luxury of fishing till dark.Lots of single jigs strikes was the rule for the morning. I had the only non troll fish on a fish trap on my 540 rod-the 10 footy kicked my butt on that 25 pound fish. Finally around noon we started getting some bait fish. I nail one one the iron on the sink and told myself that Im not going to fish the bait at all-too much fun to get them on the jig.I couldnt get on fish trap on the slide but they were lickin the jig fished under the boat. Mike the captain would tell me the depth he was markin fish at and I kept getting them.I pulled the hook on what looked like a 30 pound bluefin a deep color-I pull a little too hard sometimes.Overall it was a slow day for the fleet but I was happy being the iron man
