I have found the following places to be productive at times:

Dana Point Jetty - surfside...
I fish near the beach tight to the jetty for perch, opaleye, etc..
I fish past the elbow with swimbaits and mogambos for sand bass...
I have seen some asian fellows fishing baits on big bobber and
they were hitting big bass...

Laguna Beach - pocket beaches
North of main beach in Laguna, there are numerous little pocket
beaches accesible via many streets that are perpendicular to the
Pacific Coast Hwy...
You can fish these little rocky headlands between pockets and
catch bass, halibut, even some pretty wrasses...

San Onofre
This is a bit south but it is very productive for perch and
croakers

San Clemente Pier
I have had had some stellar days on yellowfin/spotfin croaker at
this pier...I have caught several short halibut, several large
lobster, small white seabass, calico bass, sand bass, sculpin...
Not in one trip, but different trips, different times...
