I went out and hit the peak low tide yesterday and had a fantastic day. I was using a red hula pattern that I tie and landed 15 perch and a shovel nose shark. I then changed to a rootbeer colored grub pattern and got another 7 perch and a nice corbina.
After reading CalicoHunter's account of his grub work I wrapped a #4 hook with hot pink thread, tied on some small barbell eyes, a tuft of brown marabou off the back and then wrapped it with rootbeer cactus chenille. It looks and acts like a oil colored plastic grub.
I hooked a corbina on Friday but he got off as I was bringing him up on shore so this one yesterday was the first official corbina of the year. Thanks.
