Gonna be camping at Carpinteria State Beach at the end of September. What can I be looking for in the way of surf fishing? I'm thinking light tackle with sandcrabs or worms in the surf and jigstick & swimbaits?

Will I be able to find sandcrabs in September? What's a good place to buy bait in the area?

I don't usually do a lot of surf fishing, but it's the wife's family get together and....well.... you get the idea! :D
