#6022, "Salton Sea, 5-11-02"

Four of us headed out to the Sea yesterday. We knew the wind had been blowing, but it was suppossed to lay down. It didn't. Started out at the State Park. It was so windy that launching the yaks wasn't really an option. There was actually waves out there, waves with small sheep riding them. We tossed swimbaits from shore for an hour or so, but we got sick of fighting the wind. The beach was filled with people when we got there, by the time we left there was only 5 or 10 people left. Not a single fish was caught that morning.

We headed back the the west side and fished at Desert Shores? for another hour or so. Also from shore. The wind was better there, but not good. Saw one dead one washing around on the rocks. Maybe 20 people along the shore there, heard of one fish bieng caught, but I think the guy was talking about a croaker. We did see one pulled in later.

Two trips, two blanks. What have I learned? Don't bother with the Sea if the wind has blown (both times had 40-60 mph breezes for at least 24 hrs straight the day before I left) the whole day and night previous to a trip. Next time, I'm waiting for good weather.
