#8119, "Short Newport Report"

Launch at the Newport Aquatic Center around 7am. Kinda rainy, not much wind. Though later it became a fierce south.

Worked my way back to where You can see Irvine Dr. and Jamboree. Then worked my way back to the Center. Lots and lots of shortbites. Finally around 12:30 i got a 6" spottie on a rattle trap. Tried everything, but a spinnerbait (thought it was in my box, but it wasn't). Best bites were on 3.5" BH, black or brown back, goldish middle, white belly. Still they were shortbiting though.

Besides being a bad day weatherwise, I think that area must mostly be a nursery. I'm sure some legals are back there, but mostly shorts. NAC will make a nice lauch for a dropping tide though.
