Kellen will probably have some good tips for you but.........

Stick the hook in the belly.
Make sure your treble hook has a split-ring on the eye of the hook because that will reduce the tear on the bait where the hook is.

Fish it on a straight retrieve or let it fall for a little bit then fish it on a straight retrieve. It just depends on how deep you are fishing and how close to the surface the weeds are if any.
