#1459, "questions about pond prowlers and other small boats??"

can you store them on top of a van like a canoe?????
or do you have to have a trailer/ truck bed for it????
anyone know of any small (10-13 ft) boats that would not be too hard for a van to toe around??
I'm looking for something that i can use in the resivoirs, and maybe on the potomac river, but can toe around/ put on the van?
i finally have a JOB so now i have fishing money!!!!!
ps: 2 people will be fishing in it, and I need to keep it under 3,000$ probably (me and my dad wil split the cost including the motor)
thanks very much
BEN god bless

for 3 g's you can get alot ,take your time and look around .I once fished with a guy who brought his boat in the back of a toyota truck .that might be an option for you to get a 10-11 ft boat .i think the boat company that deals thru bass pro shops have some decent car-toppers for around 900 for the boat new(motors around 1200) and the rest you can spend on electronics and /or a trolling motor..i will post you a link as soon as i find it here on the web. let us know how it goes, Brian

it should fit on top if you have the rack on top to tie it down, elevated seats may make it harder to find a model that fits on top unless you turn it right side up which poses its own problems.the same company makes some 2 seater models that amy work for you.and luckily for you tracker boats has alot more dealerships on your side of the rock. check it out when you get a chance they seem like a good prices.heres a pic of the other boat i had in mind. brian

how much do trailers run ($$)
it does seem like putting something on the top of the van would be hard, i just need to able to keep the weight down so we dont kill the minivan towing it around

yeah a kickers cool for you alone but if your dad or friend wants to fish with you ,they better have one too. get a good friend, find a neat boat, and explore more water than ever.my new neighbor has one of the fold up boats with a 2.5 kicker and it works good for 2 paople and you can get into any pond by carrying it there and setting it up.if you need a tube for some reason i have an extra will sell for cheap, and ship for actual .just let me know. brian

i have already explored the kickboat scene
i need something to handle the potomc river, a kickboat would not be able to do that, and i know my dad would not want to have one too.
yesterday when we went to basspro we did not have time to look at boats, we got an electric motor and battery for the skenoe (flat transome canoe), and noticed cracks from sitting out in the sun......so a boat is in the near future.
things that i would also in the boat: steering wheel front casting deck swivel seats not to much over 3000 with boat, electric motor and depth finder
BEN thanks
god bless

i'm in woodbine maryland, i really dont know how far he is willing to drive, but those links are a pretty long haul
yeah, steering wheel probably wont happen, my friend has a boat with steering wheel and its a welded john boat with 40hp motor and electric motor...i love it
i would love to have something like that...they got thiers for around 5 grand......i might be able to talk my dad into upping the price range.
