I'm new to froggin' (got to love that name :)). I want to start looking at a rod just to fish the frog. Note I'm talking about the hard frogs, not the swimming frogs. Would the Daiwa Heartland Heavy Swimbait rod do as an inexpensive frog rod? I was thinking about the softer tip, thought it would be good for casting frogs. Or is this rod just too soft?
Hey just saw this thread. I love my Shimano Crucial X711H Flipping Stick. It hucks a frog really far and sticks them real well even on a long-distance hookset. Walks them well even being 8 foot. Shimano also has a 7-2 frog rod if you're into that length. Both are limited lifetime warrantied.
DockBoy, I just heard what happened at the tournament on Sat. That's a bunch of B.S. If there's someone fishing on a dock and they tell you it's alright to come in there and fish there is no rule violation. I know we have been fishing this way ever since Scott started these tournaments and there was never a problem before. I think everyone is taking those tournaments too seriously. I heard there were people passing and no-one was honoring the 50 yard encroachment. The encroachment rule should be done away with. The fin is just too small. So anyway what did you end up weighing?
Thanks fo' the reply Shane. Yeah, I agree the Fin is just to small for the encroachment rule. But that was the only offical club rule we could call Rob on. Not to say we had it for him, but it was just wrong man. His wife was sitting there saving the hole for him. I mean, there's nearly 50 other docks on the lake and she just happens to fish the one he plans?! Oh well, what's done is done. He got his money back, didn't really lose anything. We ended up about 2 pounds out of the money in 4th. What sucks is I lost a fish in the last 3o mins under a tule mat x( It felt better than the rest of the fish we had too.....But all in all I was just suckin'. Overall I managed just 1 small fish and it was a nonkeeper by like an inch. Scott only caught 3 and we had 4 or 5 schools of fish located earlier!
